With a foundation in Horton and Graham techniques, my modern class emphasizes clarity through sound anatomical practice. We will focus on rhythmic complexity and musicality, articulation

of the spine and other joints and quick changes of weight. 

My movement pulls from my diverse experiences; culminating in an integrated approach

of a large spectrum of movement stylings and languages.   $10

Saturday 4/29,  3-4:30 pmMASTER CLASS @ Hotel Vetro. Musical Theatre Dance. Ramon Flowers

Structured just like musical theatre dance classes at NYC studios, students will learn

original Broadway choreography from a style of musical theatre.

Musical Theatre Dance classes focus on establishing strong dance technique,

increasing strength, flexibility, and endurance, learning the dance vocabulary used in musical theatre, building musical theatre dance repertoire of Broadway choreography.$10

Saturday 4/29,  7-9 pm: Dance Concert by multiple Iowa dancers @ Hotel Vetro, $5 donation suggested

Sunday  4/30, 10-11:30: Brown bag brunch place TBD

The Studio, 700 S. Dubuque St, IC - Gateway Dance Theatre, instructor(s)
Gateway Dance Theatre's workshop "moving to the rhythms" will give participants an introduction to Afro- Caribbean dance, accompanied by live percussion and also folk /popular dance of India.
 
We encourage everyone regardless of age to experience GDT and join us in moving to the rhythms of the world!

A short Hip Hop workshop will kick off high energy presentations with workshop leader Lovar Davis Kidd performing with audience participation, Sara Koslowski offering Hip Hop with Dance Team moves to the music of Iggy Azalea and Dream Divas offering Jazz and performance.
 
5:00 – 6:30 PM FREE PERFORMANCE: IOWA CITY REC. CENTER, SOCIAL HALL
The Robert A Lee Rec Center in Iowa City opens the doors to Iowa Dance 2015: Dancing our Visions to host classical and social dance for all ages with audience participation. The audience will enjoy performances by City Ballet of Iowa (Excerpts from Cakewalk Ballet), Infinity Dance (DanceAbility: Improvisation, Creative Movement, Choreography); UI Swing Club, and Dream Divas (Jazz, performance). Rachel Klapper and Hillary Granfield will lead a short version of a BeMoved® dance class.  The audience is invited to participate in this dance experience featuring easy to follow movements that flow into a combination.
 
6:00 – 6:45 PM FREE PERFORMANCE: Uptown Bill’s Coffee Shop
Champagne Academy of Irish Dance, opening for The Beggar men The Champagne Irish Dancers will be performing a mix of Irish rhythms at Uptown Bill’s on Saturday April 18th as part of the Iowa Dance 2015 project and as an opening act for the local traditional Irish band, The Beggarmen. And may join in with a few of their tunes later that evening.
 
6:45 – 7:30 PM FREE PERFORMANCE: FAIR GROUNDS COFFEEHOUSE
Dancing With Words.
An evening of poetry, prose, music, and dance. The intimate venue, Fairgrounds, opens its space to Iowa Dance  2015.  Dance set to poetry and prose with original work by Travelers Dance (Angie Hayes, Nora Garda), Janet Forrest, Gateway Dance Theatre and Joan Gonwa. Featuring live reading by Dai Parker Gwilliam.
 
After 8:00 PM SALON/Cast Party, hosted by Sarah and Eloy Barragan. Performances, food, drinks and conversation. By invitation only. Call/Text for details. Performances by Janet Forrest, Farida, University of Iowa Swing Club.
